Webauthoring Level 6
2007-8

Development of an online fault reporting system.

Brief:

Develop an interactive web-based system for reporting computer or computer related errors. The system and it's ancillary components should be capable of supporting a wide range of error reports, as well as presenting lists of errors not resolved and lists of errors by other criteria. The broad objective is to provide an online tool to facilitate more efficient reporting of such errors. The reporting and all other operations are to operate around a central database file.

Deliverables:

  1. Statement of problem and intent, target audience and objectives for solution.
  2. Flow charts indicating courses of action (1) overall, (2) for the engineer and (3) for a person submitting a fault report.
  3. Flow charts of HTML and perl coded pages to achieve the tasks above.
  4. Sample list of areas where 3, above satisfies or directly matches 2, above.
  5. Details of error-checking and/or error prevention used. At least one in-page script is preferable to demonstrate this technology.
  6. Print outs of the HTML and other code used on each page.
  7. Print outs of all perl scripts used.
  8. Print outs, separate to 6 above, of in-page scripts.
  9. Site map (allowing for the nature of the site).
  10. Screen grab of the starting web-page.
  11. Screen grabs showing a sample course of action by a person submitting a fault, to illustrate how that process works.
  12. Screen grabs showing a sample course of action by a support technician, to illustrate how that process works.
  13. Browser compatibility test results.
  14. A functioning system, online and useable, with at least one set of credentials (eg separate credentials for a user and a technician might be used) for testing purposes. Authenticated access only should be allowed.
