Post war in Ireland
By the end of the war people had had enough of Fianna Fail. The People of Ireland were attracted to the inter-party government. In short "People had enough of Dev" Conditions in Ireland were in a state of depression. The economy was suffering tremendously and the inter-party government seemed to offer a way out.
The new coalition government didn’t make much of an impression, and by 1951 Fianna Fail were back in power. The 50’s in general weren’t Fianna Fial best decade. They lost and regained power once more. In 1959 Eamon deValera resigned as both leader of Fainna Fail and Taoiseach.
