DeValera in power
In 1932 Final Fail assumed power in Ireland. DeValera began to go to work on many of his policies. Hence the economic war began between Ireland and England. This had devastating effects for Ireland. The oath of allegiance was soon abolished. By 1937 Eamon deValera had completed a new constitutional and governmental reform for Ireland. DeValera’s political greatness made an outstanding impression on the League of Nations to which he supported heartily.
The next hurdle in his career was the outbreak of World War 2 in 1939. Irish neutrality was something deValera was adamant about. Under the constant pressure put on by both the British and Americans he managed to maintain neutrality. At the end of the war in 1945, deValera was Ireland’s new hero. "The man who kept Ireland out of the war"
