The Internet: Its History & Structure
You are required to produce report on the history of the internet and your understanding of its structure. The specification for the report will be distributed by e-mail or in class. Standard formatting should be used for this report.
Once complete that page (which it is assumed you created with MS Word) will be printed and submitted. That page will also be saved as HTML using MS Word.
To submit the web page:
- Once complete, click on File and Save As:

- From the dialog that appears, choose the file type HTML Document:

- In lowercase specify the filename index.html - make sure this is in lowercase. Didn't get that? lowerlowerlowercase. Anything else is wrong.

- Change the location that you're saving into to the W: drive. This is a disk drive set up especially for submitting these web pages.

- Double-click to open the folder that has your username on it. In this image, Shane is the example user. If you need to be told what your username is, you're in serious trouble. :-)

- Finally, check that you've got the right filename, filetype and location. If so, click on save.

- You may get a warning about page formatting. Just click on Yes.

- You can then test that your page is set up correctly. Start Netscape Navigator and navigate to http://HOME/. On HOME navigate to the webpage for the subject The Internet. Then again, you could just click here and then choose your username.
- If there are any pictures included in your report, they'll have to be added separately. Ask Fachtna for help (preferably when he's not busy!).
